Northern Nigerian Man fingered in a likely terrorist attack in Gabon

At least a dozen men have been arrested in Libreville, Gabon today following a knife attack, apparently committed in retribution for “US attacks against Muslims”. The attack took place in the capital’s main market, which is popular with tourists.

Two Danish nationals working for National Geographic were wounded and the assailant is believed to be a trader originally from northern Nigera. Unlike many other neighboring countries, Gabon has so far avoided Islamist-inspired attacks — however the incident has not been publicly classified as terrorism by police.
